Edit: the list of books is very nice though
The necessary concepts and the information are organized for the purpose of optimizing one's learning, and when the course was done at RPISEC they focused on hands-on practical techniques. In summary they didn't reinvent the wheel they rather expanded on it.

Oh ok, at first it looked like they just made some slides based on the book :) good share, could be a nice sticky in the newbie questions section
