Hi all, I'm using vmware 4.0.0 with windbg from sdk 6.1.



Host os is windows 7 32 bit, the same for the target os in vmware.

I used this tute http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows ... e/gg487520 for the target os, but when I start the os ready for debug, kd remains in "Waiting to reconnect...".

I've create a serial port on vmware following this tute :

PS. I start windbg with the .bat file windbg -b -k com:pipe,port=\\.\pipe\com_1,resets=0

How can I solve my problem? Thanks

Did you add a serial port in your VM settings?

On top of that, I can really recommend VirtualKD. The builtin COM port emulation provided by VMWare works, but it is slow and VirtualKD is a vast improvement to this.

Yes I've added a serial port in my vm settings and it works (I mean the serial port).

VirtualKD causes vmware to freeze on boot loading, the same for virtualBox (really it crash)

In the boot ini settings, try changing the debug port to COM2 and see if that helps.
