Why AVs are useless in your opinion?

Because they are kind of legalized malware. Why should I use malware on my PC? Why do I need? To protect from another malware? I can do it myself, thanks but no.

In what ways do you protect yourself? Like custom monitoring and alerting on file / network / etc, or by just being "careful"?

I voted for K. because I think is the less intrusive and I feel paranoid without AV. :lol:
