Hi,
I'm getting acquainted with bootkits and I found out that the first partition of my hd is located at offset 0x3F. My PC is running Windows 7 and I'm told the default offset is 0x800. Any reason why Windows installer should decide to change the default settings?

did you created the partition with Windows 7 Installer? Or did the partition exist before the installation was done?

You're right. I installed 7 over XP and probably selected the existing partition. I didn't think about that.
