Hello,

I am interested in size of people's malware collection, in terms of number of files. Also, since only one poll per post, please post the size of your collection in GB/TB. Any other information would be interesting too (i.e. exact number of files, types of files, etc.)

Thanks,

I thought last option was over 1 million and I voted wrongly, so don´t take that vote in count. ;)

In fact I don´t think there are over 1 000 000 000 malware samples, at least right now.

I have several million samples but not idea how many exactly.

size? several TBs.

Hello,

I have enabled option to change vote in poll - in case of mistake.

Yes, I do not think there are greater than one hundred million samples - but option is there in case someone has been collecting for very long time ;)

Thanks,

I do not hold everything and I don't hold big archives because I see no sense in this, since more than 80% in such collections are recrypted, repacked crap.
I collect only interesting (for me) samples, such as rootkits, for example, also I keep small collection of ms-dos/win9x era viruses, because I love them much :)
Overall it is permanently about 10000+ malware files on my computers, 7 Gb. Overall for all time, hmm... yes it will be greater than 1 terabyte. Only last year I analyzed more files than for last ten years in sum.

Fixed the vote, thanks.

I have been collecting for very long time (I knew jtr, Poltergeist, ShadSeek, Danielle Fogazzi, omega-, etc) and even that way I do not have that many.

What are your favourites from ms-dos/win9x era?

Maybe RDA Fighter, Uruguay, Zhengxi or Bizatch? Those ones were the cream of the cream of that times.

Zhengxi by Denis Petrov, RDA Fighter yes.
I know Bizatch as Mururoa.

Gladkih in Dr.Web afaik was virus writter.
Well, I'm sure you can't find AV company that does not have on board some ex VX-ers.

I also "own" some virus records in Dr.Web database. However they are Win32, not ms-dos. We are going to offtop in offtopic.
